Block Auditor Test Site
This is a testing website for the Block Auditor Plugin.
What does this plugin do?
This plugin allows users to run a block audit from their WordPress admin dashboard in order to quickly see which blocks are used on which pages.
There are 2 ways to view data in version 1:
View by Block
This view organizes all blocks that are used throughout the site in the left panel and displays detailed information about the location, context and attributes of each instance of the block in the right panel.
Users can filter the results to include or exclude whatever information about the instance they are interested in.
View by Page
This view displays a wireframe of the page structure in the left panel and information about each individual page in the right panel. Version 1 only displays page post types, not posts or custom post types.
There are three tabs in the View by Page panel:
- Block Layout: Displays the order and hierarchy of all the blocks on the page.
- Links: Displays information about all the links on the page, including link text, url, and if it opens in a new tab or not. Conditional analysis flags links that are missing and links that do not have the correct target attribute (opening in a new tab or not).
- Text Content: Displays the order of all heading and paragraph elements. Flags missing or skipped heading tags.
How is this plugin helpful?
Here are some scenarios in which this plugin would be useful:
- Locating all instances of a block to ensure it is implemented correctly.
- Making sure components are nested correctly (like all sidebar components should be nested in a mobile accordion block).
- Finding all links that should open in a new tab, but are not, and vice versa.
- Making sure all links have descriptive text (plugin flags all “Learn More” “Explore” “Click Here” etc.)
- Performing a site-wide (for pages only in version 1) audit on heading hierarchy and having all potential issues in one place.
- Finding all images that don’t have alt text set.
